When Do Raccoons Have Babies on Long Island?

Short answer

Raccoons have their babies in April and May, in litters of one to seven.

From den to independence

Female raccoons look for den sites in late winter. The young open their eyes at about three weeks, nurse for about six weeks and follow their mother until September or early October.

That is why an attic opening should never be sealed in spring until you have checked for young.
