When Do Squirrels Have Babies?
Short answer
Gray squirrels breed twice a year, in mid-December or early January and again in June, and usually have two litters of one to eight pups.
Weaning, flying squirrels and sealing the hole
The young are weaned after about two months. Flying squirrels can have two litters of two to four young a year.
Closing a hole with squirrels still inside can cause more damage, because they chew their way back out.
